Interagency GBV Minimum Standards

The 16 GBV AOR MINIMUM STANDARDS will support all actors working to implement specialized GBV programming to collectively champion the minimum standards needed to ensure survivors are provided with quality, survivor centred GBV response services, and promote the participation and empowerment of women and girls across GBV prevention and response programming. Download the GBV Minimum Standards and further resources to support your local roll out of the standards at GBVAOR.NET

    Prevention and Risk Mitigation

All humanitarian actors have an obligation to prevent and mitigate GBV. Interagency GBV Guidelines https://gbvguidelines.org/en/ have been agreed upon to facilitate joint action by all actors to prevent and mitigate the risk of GBV across all sectors. The GBV Guidelines provide detailed guidance for all sectors to address GBV within their programming.

    GBV prevention approaches include:

    Response

Although all humanitarian actors have a responsibility to provide the most equitable care to women and girls and to take appropriate action in the prevention of and response to GBV, it’s important that only trained professionals engage in GBV response. All GBV response actors from health, protection, psychosocial support teams are appropriately trained on how to support a survivors recovery according to the survivor centred approach and uphold the guiding principles for GBV response.

All other actors who receive a disclosure of GBV should provide information to the survivor to access health and psychosocial support as a priority using the information in the Information and Referral section.
